Biography

Scott is a molecular virologist turned immunologist, with a wide range of interests spanning innate immunology and inflammation. Dr Read's focus lies primarily in acute and chronic infection and inflammation, with a particular emphasis on how the immune response can be both beneficial and harmful depending on the context. Current interests include (1) NK functionality in chronic liver disease (MAFLD and HBV), as well as the development of HBV-specific memory NK cells, (2) The role of liver, gut and peritoneal macrophages in response to infection and as drivers of inflammation and (3) bacteriophage immunogenicity in the gut and blood, with an emphasis on phage therapy applications.
