Biography
Jeff Nirschl, M.D., Ph.D. is an Instructor in Pathology at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA. As a physician-scientist and computational researcher he has built his career at the interface of bioinformatics, computer vision, and healthcare with a focus on computational and digital pathology. During his research, he developed image analysis pipelines for automated quantification of image-based assays in biophysics and cell biology as well as end-to-end deep learning pipelines for classification and segmentation in cardiac and renal pathology. In residency and fellowship, he has acquired a broad range of expertise in the tissue and molecular diagnosis of disease with a focus on neuropathology. His dual medical and technical expertise make him well-positioned to leverage artificial intelligence and computer vision technology to develop innovative and robust solutions to the most pressing problems in healthcare.
