Biography

Eric Vivier est docteur en médecine vétérinaire (DVM), diplômé de l’école nationale vétérinaire de Maisons-Alfort, et titulaire d’un doctorat d’immunologie de l’Université Paris XI (maintenant Paris-Saclay). En 1993, après avoir été chercheur postdoctoral à Harvard Medical School (au sein du Dana Farber Cancer Institute), il a rejoint le Centre d’immunologie de Marseille-Luminy (CIML), qu’il a dirigé de 2008 jusqu’à fin décembre 2017. Pionnier dans le domaine de l’immunité innée, il est l’un des quatre immunologistes dont les recherches ont conduit à la création d’Innate Pharma.

Le Professeur Vivier a été deux fois lauréat du prestigieux financement européen ERC (Conseil Européen de la recherche). Durant sa carrière, le Professeur Vivier a été professeur invité au Scripps Research Institute, à la Rockefeller University, et au Walter and Elisa Hall Institute. Il est membre de l’Académie nationale de médecine, de l’Institut universitaire de France et de l'organisation européenne de biologie moléculaire (EMBO). Il est membre de nombreux comités et a reçu plusieurs prix et distinctions, dont le prix de l’European Federation of Immunological Society et le Grand Prix Charles Oberling d’oncologie. Il est également Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur.
