Biography

Dr Keston Oliver Willard Njira is an Associate Professor at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), in Malawi. He teaches Soil Microbiology and Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM). His PhD and Masters Studies included various areas on exploitation of soil microbial functions and their applications in ISFM. He has research experience and interests in various areas including biofertilizers and organic fertilizers, biological nitrogen fixation (BNF), vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungal symbioses in diversified legume systems and their roles in ISFM in legume and maize-based systems. Recently, he has also developed interest in agroecology/sustainable agriculture, effects of ISFM and agronomic fortification on cereal and horticultural crop nutritional quality, and bioremediation of polluted soils.
