Biography
Since 1983, she has been part of several research groups dedicated to organic synthesis and to the synthesis of biomolecule derivatives for NMR structural biology studies. Funding has been due to 9 public research projects (the latest RT2018-095588-B-100). In addition, she has collaborated with pharmaceutical companies such as Eli-Lilly (5-year contract) for the synthesis of new ligands for the metabotropic glutamic acid receptors, and CsFlowChem a company specialized in flow chemistry. My scientific production in the group of Prof. Pérez-Castells summarized up to now in 59 indexed publications, most of them published in high impact journals (of the first quartile, Q1), 42 communications to conferences and 5 Book chapters have also been published. The main line of the group is based on developing methodologies for the Pauson-Khand reaction, such as the introduction of aromatic enynes as substrates or the promotion by molecular sieves and the development of this reaction in a plug flow reactor; also, the applications of ruthenium carbenes in combined metathesis reactions with Diels-Alder and others, as well as non-metathetic processes such as cyclopropanations, cycloisomerizations and [2+2+2] cyclotrimerizations. The group has disclosed the synthesis of molecules with potential activity such as iminosugars and enzyme inhibitors (in collaboration with Prof. Javier Cañada from CSIC). What is more, the group has collaborated with Prof. Jiménez-Barbero (CIB) and with Prof. Thomas Peters (U. of Lübeck, Germany) synthesizing carbohydrate derivatives linked to lanthanides for the use of paramagnetic effects in structural studies by NMR. In the coming years, the main interests of the group will be the development of new reactions in flow reactors in collaboration with the company CsFlowChem, including their scaling up and applications in drug synthesis; the study of new reactivity catalyzed by ruthenium and cobalt complexes in unsaturated systems, especially cyclopropenes; and the synthesis of paramagnetic tags to solve structural biology problems.
General quality indicators for scientific production: She has been granted 5 six-year terms (sexenios, the actual one: 2010-2015), by an agreement with ANECA of USP-CEU. 91 articles listed in the WOS, which have received a total of 2647 citations with an average of 29.09 per article. Of the 91 publications, 55 articles belong to the first quartile (Q1). The h-index is currently 25. All this data has been obtained
from the Thomson Reuters Web of Science.
Contributions to formation of students and young researchers: Throughout 34 years of teaching experience she has taught Organic Chemistry (Chemistry and Pharmacy), Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry; postgraduate PhD courses such as Natural Products and master courses such as Structural Elucidation of Drugs, and Natural Products as a Source of New
Drugs. He has supervised 9 doctoral theses, and 19 dissertations, DEAs or master's thesis, as well as numerous final degree projects.
