Biography
Dr. Wenxin Liu received the B.S. degree in industrial automation and the M.S. degree in Control Theory and Applications from Northeastern University, Shenyang, China, in 1996 and 2000, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri - Rolla), Rolla, MO, USA, in 2005.
From 2005 to 2009, he was a post-doc and then an Assistant Scholar Scientist with the Center for Advanced Power Systems, Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL, USA. From 2009 to 2014, he was a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor with the Klipsch School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM, USA. He joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Lehigh University as an Assistant Professor in 2014 and became a Professor in 2022.
Dr. Liu’s research interests include Power Systems, Power Electronics, Control, and Deep Reinforcement Learning. So far, he has published more than 70 journal papers (mostly in IEEE Transactions) and received multiple million-dollar research funding from the Department of Defense, National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, California Energy Commission, Idaho National Laboratory, etc. He was named ConocoPhillips Faculty Fellow in 2011, received the Dean's Recognition Award in 2012, received the Early Career Award in 2013, awarded the P.C. Rossin professorship in 2016, and awarded the Class of '61 Professorship in 2019.
Dr. Liu has served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Power Engineering Letters, and Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology.
