Biography
Nicolas Fontaine is a postdoc in the Electrochemistry and Biosensors Laboratory of prof. Philippe Dauphin Ducharme. Nicolas completed a NSERC- and Sentinel North-funded Ph.D. in Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Denis Boudreau and Dr. André Marette in the Department of Chemistry and Center for Optics, Photonics and Lasers. He received his B.Sc. degree in Chemistry with honors at Université Laval in 2017. He has a background in analytical chemistry of oils from an internship at Kemitek (named Oleotek previoulsy), and a thesis on the synthesis of fluorescent probes for ionic and molecular detection and their incorporation to plasmonic-based nanoarchitectures for enhanced fluorometric sensing. His current research interests include the development of electrochemical aptamer-based biosensors to achieve therapeutic drug monitoring direcly in undiluted whole blood and improving their analytical performances with the incorporation of plasmonic nanomaterials.
