Biography
I am a cardiothoracic surgeon from the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University, China. I have enjoyed a career that has been marked by a balance among clinical practice, clinical investigation and teaching. My practice has been the broad field of cardiothoracic surgery with an emphasis in the diseases of the lungs. Clinical investigation began with a heavy emphasis on clinical trials, but as the clinical trials mechanism has become increasingly cumbersome and data sources more plentiful, the investigation also involves exploration of many different streams of data derived from clinical practice. As the teaching secretary in our department, my teaching includes training cardiothoracic surgery residents and medical interns in the fundamentals of thoracic surgery.
My research interests include uncovering new strategies to treat acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), in addition to identifying new treatments for cor-pulmonale in chronic lung diseases. Outside the work I enjoys to play basketball and was part of a tug-of-war winning team in Wuhan University in China.
