Biography
Dr. Hsing-Yu Chen is a distinguished Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) doctor and a specialist in internal medicine (western medicine) at the Department of TCM, Division of Chinese Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Chang-Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH). Additionally, he serves as a lecturer in TCM at Chang-Gung University, where he teaches courses on Chinese internal medicine and evidence-based TCM. Dr. Chen also holds the role of consultant in medical statistics and clinical trial design within his department.
Dr. Chen has completed comprehensive training in both Chinese and Western internal medicine, earning certifications as a TCM doctor and a specialist in Western internal medicine. His primary research interests lie in evidence-based TCM and TCM epidemiology. Utilizing the National Health Insurance Research Database, a nationwide claims database, Dr. Chen has identified and published several core Chinese herbal medicines for the treatment of asthma, atopic dermatitis, urticaria, primary dysmenorrhea, pre-menstrual syndrome, and breast cancer.
Furthermore, he has evaluated the utilization patterns and effectiveness of core Chinese herbal medicines (CHM) and acupuncture through cohort studies and clinical trials. These studies employ systems pharmacology and the Chinese Herbal Medicine Network (CMN), contributing to the rediscovery of TCM wisdom from an evidence-based medicine (EBM) perspective.
