Biography
Professor of Ophthalmology, Centre for Ophthalmology and Visual Science since 2009.
David is internationally recognised as a genetic ophthalmologist with over 350 publications. From 2005-09 he was Pfizer Australia Senior Research Fellow and in 2010 an Alcon Research Institute Awardee. Before moving to Western Australia in 2009, he was Associate Professor at University of Melbourne’s Department of Ophthalmology and Clinical Professor at the University of Tasmania. In 1993 he initiated the Glaucoma Inheritance Study in Tasmania, creating one of the largest glaucoma biobanks in the world. He leads the Twins Eye Studies in Tasmania and WA and several genetic and epidemiological eye health studies in WA.
