Biography

Microbiologist, Academician & researcher, Teaching Microbiology & Biotechnology at UG & PG level for more then 32 years in Gujarat and other universities.

Served as In-charge Principal, Associate professor & HoD (Microbiology Department) at M. G. Science Institute, Ahmedabad India from Nov. 1990 to Oct. 2021. CSIR NET cleared in 1984 (JRF & SRF); Post-doctoral research experience in Canada & USA. International student travel grant for research paper presentation at Microbe'86, UK.

Pioneering research work on the isolation, characterization and identification of haloalkaliphilic archaebacteria (Natronobacterium & Natrialba) and halophilic microalgae (Euhalothece, Dunaliella, Nitzchia, etc.) from Sambhar Lake, Rajasthan; halophilic archaea Halobacterium spp. from Mithapur and Bhavnagar salterns, Gujarat; Hydrocarbon degrading bacteria from oil-wells in Gujarat; endophytic fungi from medicinal plants; microorganisms causing spoilage of pomegranate, India.

Presented research papers in international and national conferences. Published research papers in national and international journals. Co-Principal Investigator in DBT (Delhi) Major research project on endophytes from medicinal plants; PI UGC minor research project on microalgae from Sambhar Lake.

Coordinated various UGC-CPE, UGC-COP & DBT STAR College schemes for up-gradation of college infrastructure and skill development. Participated actively in the NAAC accreditation process with "A" grade awarded in 3 consecutive cycles.

Reviewer & member of Editorial Board for various international journals in Microbiology & Biotechnology. Organized national seminars, state-level competitions, webinars, hands on training programs for student and faculty.
