Biography
I am a passionate researcher driven by the goal of improving health and quality of life, especially for vulnerable communities. With my educational background centered in pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, and biochemical engineering from Algerian universities, my research interests revolve around plant-based therapeutics and functional foods.
Specifically, I focus on identifying, extracting, and characterizing bioactive compounds from Algerian medicinal plants. I have honed specialized expertise in polyphenol analysis using chromatographic techniques like HPLC. My investigations evaluate the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and other beneficial bioactivities of these plant extracts, including both in vitro and in vivo evaluations to establish safety and efficacy.
Additionally, I conduct compositional and nutritional analyses of medicinal plants while assessing the bioaccessibility of their beneficial compounds. My aim is to valorize neglected or underutilized plant parts as sustainable, readily available sources of health-promoting substances, aligning with my broader goal of aiding vulnerable communities.
As an experienced collaborator across disciplines like chemistry, nutrition and microbiology, I contribute critical phytochemical perspectives to interdisciplinary projects. My investigations have culminated in 13 peer-reviewed publications to date, with first authorship on 9 articles.
Outside of research, I demonstrate a firm commitment to teaching and mentoring students across subjects like immunology, genetics, and applied enzymology. I also take active roles organizing scientific events, reviewing manuscripts, and guiding young researchers. Overall, my scientific contributions and leadership spotlight me as a dedicated researcher pushing plant-based therapeutics forward.
