Biography

Eduard E. Vasilevskis, M.D., M.P.H. is the Division Chief of Hospital Medicine at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He earned his medical degree at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, and completed residency and chief residency at the University of California, San Francisco. This was followed by a health services research fellowship at the Institute for Health Policy Studies and the Divisions of General Internal Medicine and Hospital Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Previous to his current role, he served as the Section Chief of Hospital Medicine within the Division of General Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.

Dr. Vasilevskis’ research focuses on improving the care of older hospitalized patients. This includes work examining hospital delirium, care transitions to post-acute care, as well the role of deprescribing to address the epidemic of polypharmacy. He has developed and validated hospital measures and quality improvement strategies to address delirium. His most recent work includes efforts to improve the transition from the hospital to post-acute care settings, including the role of medication management and deprescribing.
