Biography

Dr. Md. Rashedul Islam received his B.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, in 2006, an M.Sc. in Informatics from Högskolan i Borås (University of Borås), Sweden, in 2011, and a Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronic, and Computer Engineering from the University of Ulsan, South Korea, in 2016. He is currently the Chief Researcher of Computer Vision and Lead of Overseas AI Development Group at Chowagiken Corp., Japan. Previously, he has worked as a Senior Engineer in the R&D department at Nikon-Exvision Corporation, Tokyo, Japan; a Visiting Researcher (Postdoc) at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Aizu, Japan; an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP), Dhaka, Bangladesh; a Graduate Research Assistant in the Embedded System Lab at the University of Ulsan, South Korea; an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at UAP, Dhaka, Bangladesh; and a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Leading University, Sylhet, Bangladesh. His research interests include Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, AI, Signal and Image Processing, HCI, Health Informatics, Bearing Fault Diagnosis, among others. He serves as a reviewer for several journals, including IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Access, Applied Science, Multimedia Tools and Applications, Cluster Computing, Shock and Vibration, and the Journal of Information Processing Systems. He is also a program committee member of several international conferences and has extensive experience in professional IT system analysis and development. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE Computer Society and the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.

He has also served as the Secretary of the Organizing Committee for the 19th International Conference on Computer and Information Technology (ICCIT2017), Organizing Chair for the ACM-ICPC Dhaka Regional Site 2017, Head of the Self-Assessment Committee (SAC) of the Dept. of CSE under IQAC at the University of Asia Pacific, Coordinator of the MCSE Program in the Dept. of CSE at the University of Asia Pacific, Convener of the Software and Hardware Club in the Dept. of CSE at the University of Asia Pacific, Coordinator of the Admission Committee in the Dept. of CSE at the University of Asia Pacific, and Treasurer of the Bangladesh Advanced Computing Society.
