Biography
Dr. Reddy received M.Sc. in Chemistry from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, India in 1998. Later, Dr. Reddy is awarded Ph.D. degree by the same University in 29th December 2003 for his work on the synthesis of organophosphorus heterocycles . Later moved to National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan for his postdoctoral research studies and worked on conjugated benzothiazoles and sugar linked taxol derivatives during the period April 2004 to May 2006. Then he was awarded the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship under the supervision of Prof. Rene Wilhelm, TU Clausthal., Germany and worked on asymmetric organocatalysis from August 2006 to March 2008. After studying asymmetric catalysis he worked in the laboratories of Prof. Dieter E. Kaufmann at TU Clausthal, Germany as a Henkel Industry postdoctoral fellow and worked on 1,1-substituted olefins having electron-withdrawing substituents from May 2008 to June 2009, after that he joined the faculty at the Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, India in July 2009 and currently holds the rank of Associate Professor of Chemistry. The major focus of Dr. Reddy’s research is the development of methods for the design of normal as well as chiral N-heterocyclic carbenes and applying them to various organic transformations as C-C, C-N bond formation and oxidative coupling reactions. Two clear challenges in the area of green methodologies and asymmetric synthesis are the rapid identification of appropriate catalysts for given processes and cost-effective catalysts for large-scale applications. Dr. Reddy’s contributions have been recognized both nationally and internationally and conferred the Young scientist Award in 2010 by the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, India. In 2016 he received a Prestigious Raman Postdoctoral Fellowship (Indo-US Fellowship) from the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, India, and worked on asymmetric organocatalysis under the supervision of Professor Marisa C. Kozlowski Department of Chemistry, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA. It is worthy to mention that Dr. Reddy Published 52 research articles in various reputed international journals (Appl Organometal Chem. 2020, e5869.1-12, https://doi.org/10.1002/aoc.5869, New. J. Chem, 2020,44, 11694-11703, Appl Organometal Chem. 2019, e5188.https://doi.org/10.1002/aoc.5188, J. Org. Commun. 2009, 5910-5912 etc) and also received two patents from USA and Europe towards his contributions on the alternative synthesis of 1,1-substituted olefins having electron-withdrawing substituents. Since 2009 he successfully completed 3 major research projects from Indian research funding organizations like DST, CSIR and BRNS. So far he guided 6 Ph.D. students and five more Ph.D. students are currently working under his supervision.
