BIOGRAPHY OF COMR. DR. ADASHU TANKO GANI, FCAI, FHNR, FRHD, FIPMA, MSSSN, MIUSS, MNOARA, RSS, JP
Adashu Tanko Gani was born on the 9th day of January, 1972 in Wukari, Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba state) into the Bama Royal Dynasty of Wukari. His father was Late Insp. Tanko Gani Tahwa and his mother is Mrs. Rebecca Tanko Gani.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration (FCAI); Fellow, Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators (FIPMA); Fellow, Strategic Institute for Natural Resources and Human Development (FRHD); Fellow of the Institute of Human and Natural Resources (FHNR). He is a Member, Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN), Member, International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS), Member, Network of Organic Agriculture Researchers in Africa (NOARA) and Member, Nigeria Institute of Soil Science (NISS). He is a Registered Soil Scientist (RSS) licenced to practice Soil Science and Crop Production in Nigeria.
A. T. Gani holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Soil and Water Management from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, with research interest in Soil Physics and Management. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Management; Masters of Science (M.Sc) in Soil and Water Management. Bachelor of Agric. Tech. (Soil Science) and National Diploma (Agric. Engineering Tech.) from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Federal University of Technology, Yola and College of Agriculture, Jalingo respectively. He attended Government Secondary school (GSS) Ibi and obtained GCE O Level. He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate at Wukari East Primary School, Wukari after attending Demonstration Primary School, Mubi, Adamawa state and RCM Grins Trans School, Jos, Plateau state.
A. T. Gani was the Director, Agriculture and Natural Resources Department, Wukari LGA quota between July, 2016 and Oct, 2017. He was appointed Acting Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) during the Implementation of Reform for Local Government System in Taraba state in February 2011. During the course of his service with the Local Government, A. T. Gani was at different times seconded to some establishments, out of which are; Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Wukari to teach Physics and Mathematics; Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN)/World Bank (WB) Assisted-National Fadama Development Project (NFDP) phases II, III, & III AF as Desk Officer from 2004-2015; Chief of staff to the Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, 2014; FGN/International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)-Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP) as Liaison officer for Wukari LGA from August, 2015 to July, 2016. A. T. Gani actively participated in the workers’ Unionism during his service with the Local Government. His commitments, hard work, resilience and trust led to his election into the following Union’s positions: Chairman, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Wukari Branch from July, 2008 to December, 2014; Vice Chairman 1, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Wukari Branch from October, 2012 to October, 2018; Chairman, Branch Chairmen’s Forum, NULGE, Taraba state from 2011 to 2014.
A.T. Gani is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Soil Science and Land Resources Management (SSLRM), Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences (FALS), Federal University Wukari (FUW), Nigeria. He has supervised over 25 undergraduate students’ Projects at Kwararafa University Wukari and FUW. He has over 28 peer - reviewed publications in Soil and environmental Sciences, in local and international journals. A. T. Gani participated in over 60 Scientific and administrative. He is currently the Head, Deprs/Workshops/Conferences, locally and internally.,Seminars several University,Seminarsstate.eminarsrative duties/ad hoc positions and also as Staff Adviser to some Students’ Associations.
He has been a Resource Person and Consultant to the National Directorate of Employment (NDE)-National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC) in Wukari LGA; FGN/IFAD-VCDP FGN/WB NFDP and private farm enterprises. He is the Vice President, Jukun Youth and Cultural Development Association (JYCDA), Financial Secretary of Host Communities (HOSCON), Producing Oil and Gas, Pipelines and Impacted States, Taraba state Chapter; Secretary, UNDP-Assisted Puje Early Response, Early Warning (EWER) Forum; Chairman, Community Accountability Forum (CAF), Wukari among others.
He loves and plays Tennis and scrabble. He has been in the leadership affairs of Tennis and other community services for decades.
He is married to former Miss Gimbiya Sabo Ezeuhwe Kente. The marriage is blessed with four (4) children. He is currently a communicant member of Christian Reformed Church-Nigeria (CRC-N) Gu-Kinkiso Salvation, Wukari LGA, Taraba State.
He visited the holy land of Israel for pilgrimage in December, 2009.
He is a very active member of the Boys brigade, Nigeria (BBN), He is the Chairman of the Patrons’ Forum of BBN, WBC.
