Biography
Dr. Mireia Freixa is Professor at the Department of Art History at the University of Barcelona and the director of GRACMON, Research Group of Catalan Art and Design Contemporary http://www.ub.edu/gracmon/, which has the category of Research Consolidated Group from the Generalitat de Catalunya and she is also member of the Real Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi. He has been a visiting professor at the Université Lumière Lyon between 1995 and 2007 and visiting researcher at the Victorian & Albert Museum (1993-1994, at Kingston University, the Royal Institute of British Architects in London (2003-2004) and the Art Institute of Chicago (2011).
Her research topics are the artistic production of Catalan Modernisme -the Catalan Art Nouveau- (especially with regard to the history of architecture and the applied and decorative arts), the study of the Sources of the History of Art and the review of the discipline from the Gender perspective.
