Biography
Researcher in plant Biotechnology.
I obtained my B.S. in Biology from the University of Málaga in 2007. Shortly after, I had the opportunity to participate in a small research project as undergraduate student and be immersed in research work.
I have obtained my Ph.D. at the University of Málaga in 2013. During my thesis project I studied the regeneration and genetic transformation of olive tree (Olea europaea L.) developing an efficient regeneration protocol via somatic embryogenesis as well as a methodology for genetic transformation via Agrobacterium tumefaciens.
In the course of my early research career I have also participated in projects working on genetic transformation and regeneration of avocado (Persea americana Mill.) using somatic embryogenesis and furthermore, part of my research work has been focused on the development of micro-propagation protocols in Paulownia sp. and wild olive (Olea europaea L. var sylvestris).
This training gave me practical experience on a wide range of in vitro culture techniques as formulation of specific plant growth media, induction and maintenance of embryogenic cultures, somatic embryo transformation and selection, plant regeneration, micro-propagation, micro-grafting, plant maintenance, acclimation and greenhouse cropping. Moreover, as part of my background, I performed phenotypical analysis and applied molecular biology techniques to analyze transgenic plants.
