Biography

Dr. Pablo Pareja-Alcaraz is Serra Húnter Lecturer in International Relations at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and Academic Coordinator of the Erasmus Mundus Master in Public Policy at the Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals (IBEI). He pursued postgraduate studies at the London School of Economics (MSc in European Studies: EU policy making) and Georgetown University, Washington D.C. (MSc in Foreign Service (2001-2004). He obtained his PhD (2010) at UPF with a thesis on "Actors and International Relations: The role of China and Japan in the construction of East Asia's regional order".
Prior to joining the UPF and IBEI, he gained international professional experience at the University of the Western Cape (South Africa), Human Rights Watch, and the Washington Office of El País. In addition, he gained some field experience as an electoral observer in the 2003 electoral process in Cambodia. He is member of the Board of Directors of Spain's United Nations Association since 2007.
