Biography
Carlos DS Brites is an Associate Professor in the Physics Department of the University of Aveiro. He finished his Ph.D. in Physics in the MAP-FIS joint program (2012). He was hosted in CICECO/UA and ICMA (Univ. of Zaragoza, Spain), with the group of Dr. A. Millan, his MSc in Optoelectronics and Lasers (2007, University of Porto, Faculty of Sciences) and Degree in Physics and Chemistry (2004, University of Aveiro). Carlos DS Brites' research interests focus on the luminescent properties of trivalent lanthanide as sensors and functional molecular logical devices. Dr. Brites was skilled in computer programming, Arduino prototyping, and scientific illustration, authoring several scientific journal covers (1 front cover in Adv. Funct. Mater.). Carlos DS Brites authored 40 publications (h index 19, >2000 citations [database: principal collection of Web-of-Science, Clarivate Analytics], >550 citations in 2017) with 10 as the first author. The last 3 years were highly productive with 18 publications (10 in 2016) among which 1 in NanoLetters and 1 in Nature Nanotechnology, both as the first author. Three papers (years 2010, 2012, 2016) are highly cited. He co-authors 3 book chapters and 3 international patents (Spain, EU, and USA).
