Biography
Dr. Esteban P. Urriolabeitia is a chemist and senior researcher of the CSIC (National Council of Scientific Research), born in San Sebastian (Basque Country, Spain) in 1964. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Zaragoza (1991), under the direction of Profs. J. Forniés and R. Navarro, and spent two years in a postdoctoral stay in the group of Prof. Michel Pfeffer (Université Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France). In 1994, he was rejoined the CSIC as a contracted researcher and started an independent career in 1999, when he was promoted to tenured scientist, also at CSIC. He is a co-author of more than 150 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Chemistry and Molecules. The research interests of his group are focused on the development of synthetic methodologies for the organic synthesis of high added-value compounds through organometallic complexes, mainly using catalyzed C-H bond activation reactions and photochemical processes, as well as in the study of the photophysical properties of organometallic complexes.
