Biography

Maria Margarida Ferreira Alves, is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Lusófona University, since 2009. She completed a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical (IHMT), Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2006, a MSc in Medical Parasitology at IHMT, Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 1999 and a degree in Applied Chemistry-Biotechnology at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 1994. Margarida developed her Post-Doc research in oncobiology at Faculdade de Farmácia, Universidade de Lisboa. She is currently an investigator at the Research Center for Biosciences & Health Technologies (CBIOS), Lusófona University. Her research is in the Molecular Biology area, with emphasis on vector-borne diseases, molecular epidemiology and veterinary genetic diseases. She published several full articles in international and national peer-reviewed journals and is author of many communications presented at both national and international meetings and conferences.. She has extensive teaching experience in Higher Education and Master's students mentoring.
