Biography
Itziar Sobrino obtained the Degree of Laws in 2016 by the University of A Coruña, she holds a Master of Laws (awarded for the best academic record) and a Master in Business Legal Advice with specializing in Environmental Law in 2018 (both) by the same university. She received her PhD with international distinction and extraordinary doctorate award in the doctoral program with mention of excellence “Legal regulation of the market” by the University of Vigo in July 2022, in the field of cross-border data transfers in European Union-United States relations and their impact on the Spanish public sector. During her doctoral studies she completed two research stays at Universidad de La Laguna (2019, 3 months) and at University of Minho in Portugal (2022, 3 months). Her research focuses on public procurement, regulation and technology and environmental democracy. Since 2016, she has participated in national and international congresses, as well as in multiple conferences and seminars at the University of La Laguna, Unviersity of Minho or the Unviersity of Murcia, among others. Itziar has published 9 articles in national and international journals that have the FECYT seal and meet the CNEAI criteria in Administrative Law. Also, she has published 11 book chapters in prestigious editorials in the Law area. She has written her first monograph published by Thomson-Reuters Aranzadi (is being edited). According to the Google Scholar metric, her publications currently have 102 citations.
She is currently a postdoctoral researcher (fellowship by Xunta de Galicia) at the University of a Coruña, although she was also selected for the Juan de la Cierva state-level postdoctoral fellowship in its 2024 call.
She organized several seminars and conferences, and she participated in the organization of the “I Online International Congress: Key Issues in Public Procurement”. She collaborated in a national project granted by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and in two research projects granted by Diputación de Pontevedra on gender biases in the use of Artificial Intelligence by Public Administrations. Through these past years, Itziar has developed knowledge transfer activities to the professional world through workshops given at the Vigo Bar Association. Furthermore, she has directed three final degree projects, helping to train young students in their research work. Likewise, she is part of the Revista Escuela Jacobea de Posgrado editorial team and she has performed as a reviewer in multiple national and international journals. Finally, she has collaborated with researchers from the University Oberta de Catalunya, the University of Murcia or the University of Valencia (among others) in the development of collective works on topics related to her lines of research, as well as in the organization of academic courses, conferences and academic events.
