Biography

The scientific interests are devoted to the field of aging research with the aim to unravel the molecular network of pathways controlling aging at the organism level. In particular, mitochondrial/nuclear interactions (cross talks), mitochondrial DNA instabilities and mtDNA repair, respiration, retrograde signalling, ROS generation and scavenging, apoptosis, mitochondrial dynamics and protein quality control at the genetic, biochemical, cytological, and physiological level are in the focus of his work. Recent interest turned towards the understanding of organism aging in a holistic sense using systems biology approaches.
