Biography

I am an aquatic microbial ecologist and computational scientist with interests in the biodiversity, function and structure of marine and freshwater microorganisms on a global scale. My current research focuses on how biodiversity and ecosystem functions controlled by microbes respond to the impacts of climate change, and the evolutionary divergence of microbial proteomes and genomes during the transition from marine to freshwater systems. I also have extensive knowledge in nitrogen cycle biogeochemistry, environmental genomics, phylogenomics, evolutionary microbiology and bioinformatics of prokaryotic plankton and host-associated microbes in sponges and marine fish.
