Biography
Enrico Savio is a Professor of Manufacturing Engineering and member of the Precision Manufacturing research group at the Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Padova.
In 2003, he was awarded the F.W. Taylor Medal from CIRP (International Academy for Production Engineering).
Research activity is in the area of Precision Engineering, with focus on Manufacturing Metrology. Research topics include advanced coordinate metrology, calibration and verification procedures for coordinate measuring systems, metrology of freeform surfaces and complex parts, nanometrology of surfaces and microparts, economics of measurements in industry. Responsible of contract work with industry, national and international research projects, he is author of five patents and of more than 150 publications on international journals or proceedings of international conferences.
He is Fellow of CIRP (International Academy for Production Engineering) where he served as Chair of the Scientific Technical Committee “Surfaces”, past-President of EUSPEN (European Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology), former member of the Steering Committee of Associazione CMM Club Italia (Italian Association related to Coordinate Metrology), member of AITeM (Associazione Italiana di Tecnologia Meccanica), founding member and vice-president of CMTrain (Training for Coordinate Metrology e.V., registered in Erlangen, Germany).
