Leticia Ferreira Cabido

Biography

Dr. Leticia Ferreira Cabido obtained her dental degree from the Universidade Federal da Bahia, in Brazil, in 2006 and completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (OMFP) and master’s in Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M Health Science Center in 2011. Dr. Cabido achieved fellowship status in the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology in 2011 and received the prestigious Shafer Award, which is given annually to the person scoring the highest on the academy’s fellowship examination. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology since September of 2011. Dr. Cabido is a Clinical Associate Professor at Texas A&M University, College of Dentistry (TAMUCOD) where she is one of four board certified oral and maxillofacial pathologists participating in the training of OMFP residents, other dental residents, dental students, and actively diagnosing biopsy specimens in the TAMU Oral Pathology Services laboratory. Before joining TAMUCOD, Dr. Cabido spent eight years at the University of the Pacific (UOP) Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry where she was an active participant in the institution’s large oral pathology biopsy service and was course director of several undergraduate and graduate courses. During the eight and a half years she spent at UOP, she published several manuscripts and won a teaching award and the Pacific Dental Helix Curriculum Innovation Award for her modern approaches to dental education. At the national level, Dr. Cabido is currently a member of the Nomination Committee of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (AAOMP) and of the Review Committee on Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Education of the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). Her research and academic interests include foreign body gingivitis and the use of innovative technologies in dental education.
