Biography
Christophe Godin received the engineer degree from the Special School of Civil Engineering in Paris, France, in 1986, the PhD degree in complex systems control from the Technological University of Compiègne, France, in 1990, and the Habilitation degree in computer science from the University of Montpellier, France, in 2003.
After the PhD degree in speech recognition hosted at the Marcoussis Laboratories of Alcatel-Alsthom Research near Paris, he did a postdoctoral fellowship in robotics in 1990, still at Marcoussis Laboratories. He was then a project leader at Cap Gemini Innovation, research center of Cap Gemini Sogeti in Paris, in the domain of Language Processing from 1991 to 1992. In 1993, he joined the research group AMAP at CIRAD, Montpellier, France, to develop a research program on plant growth modeling and analysis. In 2003, he joined the French national research institute for the digital sciences (INRIA) as a research director. He was the head of the INRIA Team Virtual Plants, joint with CIRAD and INRA in Montpellier from 2006 to 2017. in 2018, he then moved to at the Laboratoire de Reproduction de Plantes (RDP) at ENS de Lyon to create the Inria team MOSAIC on the modeling of morphogenesis.
His research interests include modeling and simulation in developmental biology, modeling of plant and animal development, 3D modeling of organs and branching systems, models of tissue development, multiscale modeling, regulatory networks, dynamical systems with dynamical structures, differential geometry, fractals, L-systems, stochastic processes, graph theory, and the design of computer platforms for simulation in biology.
