Biography
Prof. Chu received his Ph. D in Comparative Literature from Chinese University of Hong Kong and M.A. in Chinese Language and Literature from San Francisco State University.
His research fields are Hong Kong Popular Lyrics, Comparative Literary Criticism, Postcolonialism, Globalism, Chinese/Hong Kong Cultural Discourse, Law as/and Culture in (Post) colonial Hong Kong.
His latest publications include 《後九七香港流行歌詞研究》(A Study of Post-1997 Cantopop Lyrics) (co-authored with Leung Wai Sze) published by Hong Kong Enlighten & Fish 亮光文化, 《文化研究60詞》(60 Keywords in Cultural Studies) (co-authored with Anthony Chan and Leon Chu) published by Hong Kong Infolink匯智and 《詞家有道:香港16詞人訪談錄》 (The Way of the Hong Kong Lyricists) (co-authored with Wong Chi Wah and Leung Wai Sze) published by Hong Kong Infolink匯智. His latest academic writings include The Importance of Being Free: FuKin Music as Alternative Pop Music Production, in Inter-Asia Cultural Studies (March 2011) and Brand Hong Kong: Asias World City as Method? in Visual Anthropology (Jan 2011).
