Biography
Robert Weissert did his training in Neurology, Neuroimmunology, Immunology and Genetics in Tuebingen (Germany), Miami and Chicago (USA) and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm (Sweden). Between 1999 and 2007 he headed a group of Experimental Neuroimmunology funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the Hertie Institute of Clinical Brain Research in Tuebingen. 2007 to 2010 he worked as a Director in Research and Development of a large pharmaceutical company in Geneva, Switzerland and was a senior physician in the Department of Neurology of the Cantonal Hospital of the University of Geneva. In 2012 he was appointed University Professor of Clinical Neurobiology with focus on Neuroimmunology and Neuroinflammation at the University of Regensburg in Germany. Robert Weissert has made important contributions to the understanding of pathogenesis of neuroimmunological diseases and establishment of novel treatment options with focus on multiple sclerosis.
