Biography
Carien Wilsenach works in the field of Linguistics as a lecturer, researcher and supervisor. She has a background in formal linguistics (syntax especially), but specialized in the field of Psycholinguistics (particularly reading and language disorders). Currently, she lectures in the field of Applied Linguistics and supervises postgraduate students on a wide range of topics related to the fields of Psycholinguistics, Cognitive Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Literacy and Bilingualism.
Her current research focuses on the relationship between various cognitive-linguistic skills and literacy development in African languages (specifically Northern-Sotho, isiXhosa and isiZulu).
