Biography

I am a passionate public health professional with an interest in social and behavioral science research. My research interests are focused on tobacco control including epidemiology, behavioral, policy and cessation/prevention, substance abuse prevention and treatment, oral cancer screening and prevention, oral diseases, behavioral theories and interventions, social determinants of health, community-based research, mixed methods approach (quantitative and qualitative), and global health. By grounding my research in the concept of social determinants and developing collaborations with local health agencies and community- based organizations, I am specifically interested in understanding issues related to tobacco/ e-cigarettes, opioids, and other substance use among youth/young adults, low-income, and ethnic minority populations in the United States, and translate research findings into the development, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of interventions, programs, and policies. I'm also keen on conducting global health research, particularly global tobacco control and oral cancer research in India and the United States. My professional work experience mainly revolves around writing research papers, conceptualising and executing development projects, designing and formulating research along with conducting required statistical analysis, writing grant proposals, and community program planning and evaluation.
