Biography

Dr. D'Afonseca is currently Assistant Professor and Researcher at the Faculty of Medicine - Universidad Católica del Maule, Chile (2018 - current); Vice-president of the Scientific Ethics Committee - Universidad Católica de Maule (2022 - current); member of the Chilean Society of Genetics; PhD (2011) and Master (2008) in Genetics from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais - UFMG, Brazil. Expert in Bioetics (2021) - Universidad Católica del Maule.

Dr. D'Afonseca works in the areas of Cancer Genetics and Genomics, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics; Genetics and Genomics of Microorganisms. Currently develops three research themes: study of genetic and epigenetic factors in cancer; bioinformatics applied to health and microbiology; control and molecular diagnosis of infectious diseases.
