Biography

Professor Rachel Sharaby (B.A., Bar Ilan University, 1978, M.A., Bar Ilan University, 1983, Ph.D., Bar Ilan University, 1999) is Chair of the Sociology and Anthropology Department at the Ashkelon Academic College. She is an editor of the journal Hagira (Israel Journal of Immigration). Her studies discuss immigration, gender, and communities. Her latest books are: Mediation in Immigration (Germany, 2013); Between the Private and the Public (Jerusalem, 2013); and Dynamics of Gender Borders (Berlin/Boston, 2017).
