Biography

Dr. Thanos Tiliakos is one of the few non-native scientists in Romania. He is a senior researcher working for the New Materials for Hydrogen Energy Group of the National R&D Institute for Cryogenic & Isotopic Technologies (ICSI) in Râmnicu Vâlcea, where he is responsible for the Laboratory for Nanostructural Investigations. He specializes in hydrogen economy, laser photochemistry, additive manufacturing, nanotechnology and 2D materials; he works on developing energy storage and conversion applications using advanced materials and experimental architectures: fractal, constructal, biomimetic. Initially trained as an environmental engineer, he continued his postgraduate studies in atmospheric geophysics, environmental management and crisis economics; he received his doctorate in nanotechnology and alternative energy sources. Dr. Tiliakos serves at the editorial boards of the Elsevier journals Hybrid Advances and Results in Surfaces and Interfaces.
