Biography
Patrick Hajayandi is a Peacebuilding Practitioner, a Political Scientist, and a Researcher. He works at the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (www.ijr.org.za) as the Senior Project Leader for the Great Lakes Region of Africa. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from Rostov State University in Russia (Currently the Southern Federal University). He has worked as a lecturer at the National School of Administration in Bujumbura-Burundi and as a Consultant and Researcher for the Transitional Demobilization and Reintegration Program (TDRP) of the World Bank. His publications and films focus on Peace and security issues, transitional justice and memorialization in particular, electoral processes and the nexus between climate change and migration. His work includes a documentary film on the tragic history of the genocide against the Hutu that took place in Burundi in 1972.
