Biography
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biology from UFPR (2004), a Master's degree in Biochemistry from UFPR (2006), and a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology (2010). I have been a public health researcher at Fiocruz PR (Carlos Chagas Institute ICC) since 2012 and a professor in the Graduate Program in Biosciences and Biotechnology at ICC. My current research encompasses RNA biology, molecular mycology, and extracellular vesicles, focusing on antimicrobial responses and modulation of gene expression during infections with pathogenic fungi such as Candida auris and Cryptococcus spp. I have expertise in microbiology and molecular biology, RNA-seq, isolation and characterization of extracellular vesicles, and transcriptomic and proteomic data analysis. I am the section editor of mycology at the Journal of Medical Microbiology and an associate editor at Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, Journal of Extracellular Biology, and BMC Microbiology. I have experience as a reviewer for various research funding organizations, such as CNPq, UKRI, Medical and Research Council, European Science Foundation, NWO, and Hong Kong's RGC, evaluating proposals in mycology, microbiology, and molecular biology.
