Biography

Profesora Asociada del Departamento de Ingeniería Química, Investigadora Senior (IS) y vinculada al Grupo de Diseño de Productos y Procesos (GDPP), Categoría A1.
Mi proyecto de investigación está direccionado al estudio y desarrollo de procesos para el uso de residuos (de cosecha, orgánicos o de otros tipos) en la producción de combustibles, energía y/o otros productos con valor agregado.

I M P A C T O
"Valores ambientales, energéticos y económicos derivados del uso y la colocación adecuada de productos y calor residuales".
Mientras que la producción de energía eléctrica se ha considerado la de mayor impacto en lo que respecta a las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero a nivel mundial, para Colombia los principales generadores de este tipo de emisiones son la actividad agrícola y la forestal. El problema de la deforestación agota un importante recurso para la captura de dióxido de carbono. Durante 2019 se dispusieron en Colombia cerca de 10 millones de toneladas de residuos que emitieron más de 9 millones tCO2-eq. Múltiples esfuerzos gubernamentales apuntan a la economía circular, que bien planeada y ejecutada, usa de manera óptima los residuos o nunca los genera. Esta debe basarse en la química verde, el concepto de biorrefinería y la sinergia entre las distintas alternativas de energía renovable, que incluye con mucha fuerza el tema del hidrógeno, su producción, almacenamiento y usos, al igual que el aprovechamiento de la energía geotérmica.

Consideración de las condiciones locales ambientales, sociales, económicas y tecnológicas para la formulación de proyectos de autosostenibilidad energética, de alimentos e insumos en nichos donde se identifiquen apuestas con sentido.

Proyectos de Impacto:
• Hidrógeno: usos, tecnología y aplicaciones
• Uso de la exergoeconomía para el diseño y optimización de procesos en el contexto de la biorrefinería
• Identificación del valor agregado de los residuos vegetales agrícolas y pecuarios en el contexto de la química verde
• Uso de sistemas de inteligencia artificial para identificar oportunidades de uso y aprovechamiento de residuos y plantear proyectos viables, incluyendo pero no limitándose a la biorrefinería inteligente y el atlas nacional del potencial de energía derivada de desechos agrícolas
