Biography

• M Rezaul Islam (PhD) is a Professor in Social Work at the Institute of Social Welfare & Research, University of Dhaka, and International Academic Adviser at the Department of Social Administration & Justice, University of Malaya. He worked as Visiting Professor at the University of Malaya, Malaysia from 2012 to 2016. He is actively involved in social work education and professional development of social work in Bangladesh and Malaysia. His research focuses on social research methodology, climate vulnerability, poverty, social inequality and social justice. His field of interest includes climate change and disasters, migration, poverty, human rights, community development and nongovernmental organisations (NGOs), which is embedded by a human rights approach and inspired by people who are vulnerable and affected by structural causes of poverty, unemployment and inequalities. He has delivered public and research talks to 36 universities in Asia and South Asia including Australia and United Kingdom. Dr. Islam has widely published books and journal articles from reputed international publishers. He published 100 journal articles, 60 articles are from Web of Science and Scopus cited high index journals. He is the Editor of several books published/will be published from the Edward Elgar Publishing, Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge, and Oxford University Press. He is currently Member of International Advisory Board of the Community Development Journal (Oxford University Press) and editorial Board Member of three journals i.e. Asian Social Work and Policy Review (Wiley), Local Development & Society (Taylor & Francis) and International Community Well-being (Springer).
