Biography

I am currently the Head of Research and Commercial Agriculture at Vanguard Economics Ltd in Rwanda. I have also held positions including being a senior research fellow in Rwanda, postdoctoral research fellow in South Africa and University Lecturer and researcher in Zimbabwe working on agricultural policy analysis and food systems resilience. I am a researcher with more than 15 years of participatory socio-economic development experience. I hold a PhD in Agricultural Economics which focused on an economic analysis of smallholder sorghum value chain development in Zimbabwe. My broad practical and theoretical experience in conducting research in remote rural areas of Zimbabwe, Rwanda, South Africa and Zambia, supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students has developed my understanding and application of a number of methodologies in rural agricultural marketing, innovation adoption, food security, value chain analysis and development. I am innovative, hardworking, have excellent communication, writing and presentation skills in English and Shona. To date I have two book chapters, 2 handouts (study modules) and over 20 journal articles to my credit. I have the ability to blend well in diverse team compositions and can independently work as well as lead transdisciplinary teams.
