Full-time researcher at the University of Macerata since 2007. Lecturer in Information Science applied to Cultural Heritage, Communication and Digital Humanities. Former coordinator of National Archives web Information System and national archives web site. European expert on cultural heritage web quality (EU projects MINERVA, MICHAEL, EUROPEANA, MEDCULT).
Research interests: interface quality, usability evaluation and study of users’ interaction with cultural web content, digital repositories management, metadata and semantic marking, evaluation methods of users behavior and satisfaction. He took part to many national international conferences on those topics, even organizing and chairing tutorials and workshops, and recently edited, with Milena Dobreva (University of Malta) and Andy O'Dwyer (BBC), the book User Studies for Digital Libraries Development, Facet Publishing, London.
Member since 2003 of the MINERVA european working group on cultural web quality, co-author of the European and Italian edition of the Handbook of quality of cultural web sites, the Quality Principles for cultural Web sites: a handbook and the Handbook on of cultural web user interaction, he was scientific coordinator of the State Archives, the Marche and Umbria Italian Regions workspaces for the MICHAEL digital collections survey project. Member of the direction board 2010-2013 of Associazione Italiana Documentazione avanzata, of the Scientific direction board of Italian Central Institute for Archives and of SEEDI network (South East European countries Digitization Initiative). In August 2013 he directed the 2nd International Summer School in Policies and Practices in Access to Digital Archives, funded by CEI and OSF.
For the University of Macerata, he is pro-rector for ICT and information systems (since 2010), Coordinator of the network of research for Social Sciences and ICT, Member of the doctoral board for Communication, Psychology and Social studies, President of the PlayMarche spin-off enterprise (ICT and cultural heritage).
