Biography
Dora Agapito holds a Habilitation degree (Agregação) in Economic and Management Sciences (Specialisation: Management) (2024), a PhD in Tourism (Specialisation: Management) (2013), an MSc in Marketing (2010) and a BSc in Communication Sciences (2005) with a specialisation in Corporate Communication (2007), University of the Algarve (UAlg), Portugal. She developed her post-doctoral research at the School of Economics and Management, University of Porto (2018), focusing on consumer behaviour. With more than 15 years of teaching experience in higher education, she is currently an Assistant Professor in Marketing with Habilitation at the Faculty of Economics, UAlg, where she is the Programme Leader of the PhD in Tourism, which is taught in English to an international audience. Agapito is also a member of the Directorate Board of the MSc in Marketing Management and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Faculty of Economics (since 2020). She was also the programme leader of the MSc in Tourism Organisations Management. She supervises doctoral and master's theses. Previously, Agapito was Senior Lecturer at the International Business School, University of Lincoln, UK (2017-2020), where she was awarded a Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Before this, she engaged in roles such as invited lecturer at UAlg (including a member of the Directorate Board of the MSc in Communication Design for Tourism and Culture,) corporate trainer in marketing and communications, and journalist. She is an integrated member of CinTurs - Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being, where currently she coordinates the Tourism and Hospitality Management Research Area, and she is an associate editor of the Journal of Tourism, Sustainability, and Well-being. Agapito integrates editorial boards of indexed tourism journals such as: International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Destination Marketing & Management, Tourism Review, and Tourism & Management Studies. Agapito has experience as co-principal investigator and researcher on internationally funded projects and as an author in leading tourism journals (e.g. Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Destination Marketing & Management, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Current Issues in Tourism). Her main line of research is sensory consumer experiences, consumer behaviour, experience design, well-being in tourism and hospitality marketing and management.
