Abhishek Phatarphekar

Biography

I am a researcher with training in biochemistry and molecular biology. I work in the area of biotherapeutics spanning protein therapeutics to cellular therapies. I have completed my Bachelors in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) and Masters in Biotechnology from University of Pennsylvania followed by a stint in the biopharmaceutical industry in the US for a couple of years. I returned to graduate school to pursue my PhD in Chemistry with focus in Biological Chemistry at the Johns Hopkins University. My PhD project was focused on enzymology and in vivo functional elucidation of a related gene. I moved on to researching kinase signaling pathways during my postdoctoral training at the Pharmacology department at UCSD.
I have garnered 8 years of comprehensive industrial experience in research and process development spanning recombinant proteins, vaccines and cell and gene therapies. I thrive in a fast paced and collaborative environment where I can leverage my skills, learn from my peers, and advance novel therapeutics, ultimately ensuring better outcomes for patients.
