Biography

Peter Davies is an associate professor in environmental and urban planning at Macquarie University. Prior to commencing an academic career in 2012 he held management and senior positions in state and local government and consultancy for over 20 years.
Dr Davies has lead and contributed too many multi-disciplinary research projects in the areas of environmental planning and sustainability, corporate planning and decision making and community engagement. He completed his doctorate degree in 2011 researching how urban water is managed with a specific focus on the role of local government in Sydney. This research integrated social and physical sciences with policy, planning and law.
Peter has previously represented Macquarie University and the local government sector on a number of government and industry advisory groups. His current research interests involve a range of collaborations within academia, government and the private sector into sustainable land use planning and practice and focuses on sustainable cities and the effectiveness of the sciences and policy to effect change.
