Biography

I am Senior Lecturer and Researcher in Dress and Belonging at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Through my research, I seek connections between dress, cultural memory, identity, disability, exclusion, and belonging. I am Associate Editor of the Intellect journal Fashion, Style and Popular Culture and am a guest editor of the journal’s Special Issue ‘Dressing through Pandemics’. I co-edited the volume 'Memories of Dress: Recollections of material identities' (Bloomsbury 2023) which includes my solo chapter ‘”The American Look: Memories of not fitting in’, introducing my research into ‘body dressing work’ which was featured in The Guardian.
