Biography
Juan-Carlos Fraile is Associate Professor at the Control and Robotics Department of the Engineering Faculty of the University of Valladolid (Spain). He graduated in Electronic Engineering and he received the PhD. Degree from the University of Valladolid in 1987. In 1998 he was visiting professor at the Institute for Complex Engineered Systems, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh (US). He is a founding member of CARTIF Technological Centre, where he has been the Head of the Industrial Robotics Division from 2000 to 2014. He is also member of ITAP (Institute of Advanced Production Technologies) University Institute, where he carries out his research work in fields related to Biomedical Engineering. His current research interests involve: rehabilitation robotics, robots for surgery, biomechanical modelling and haptic display technologies.
He has authored and co-authored more than 130 international scientific publications (including books chapters, papers in journals and conference proceedings). He has been main researcher in more than 40 regional, national and international funded research projects with public entities and private companies. He is Advisor of 6 Doctoral Theses.

• September 1992 - January 1997: Sub deacon of the Faculty of Engineering at University of Valladolid.
• December 2006 - June 2008: Head of Control and Robotics Department of University of Valladolid.
• June 2013 - December 2014: Head of the Academic Committee of the "Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering", in the Faculty of Engineering at University of Valladolid.
• December 2014 - December 2018: Sub deacon of Accreditation and Quality of the Faculty of Engineering at University of Valladolid.
• January 2021 – now: Head of Institute of Advanced Production Technologies, a University Research Institute of the University of Valladolid.
• April 2023 - now: Head of the Academic Committee of the "Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering", in the Faculty of Engineering at University of Valladolid.
