Biography
Professional Bio:
Currently, Dr. Rivera is working as Power System Professor and Smart Grids Researcher in National University of Colombia. Previously, he was Postdoctoral Researcher in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) and Postdoctoral Fellow in Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (UAE).
Former, he was working in General Motors as Senior Process Engineer in the Manufacturing Engineering Area. Additionally, he was professor of Power Systems in the District University (Colombia) in the subjects: Reliability of Power Systems and Electricity Markets. His PhD is from Electric Energy Institute (Argentina) at National University of San Juan, where he proposed a methodology for short term investment decisions in electric distribution networks considering uncertainties in the planning parameters.
Research Interests:
His research project is focused on Reliability of Power Systems and Electricity Markets. Specifically, he is working with the Coordination and Control of Smart Grids and Microgrids using MAS (Multi Agent Systems) and Applications of Modern Heuristic Optimization for Operation Improvement of Power Systems.
