Biography

A passionate and highly-motivated scientist with a strong background in Immunology (innate and adaptive, 8+ years) and in-depth in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo experience. Marini Thian completed her undergraduate studies at the National University of Singapore and her doctoral training in immunology and genetics at the Medical University of Vienna (Austria). During her PhD, she identified and characterized novel monogenic defects in patients suffering from human inborn errors of immunity, contributing to the diagnosis and therapeutic options of patients with rare immunological diseases. She joined MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, TX) as a postdoctoral fellow where she explored new immune checkpoint approaches for cancer therapy. Currently she is helping to make safer gene & cell therapies at Takeda (Cambridge, MA) and she endeavors to help patients through translational research from the bench to the bedside.
