Biography
Prof. Dr. Sezgin Gunes is a Professor of Medical Biology and Chair of the
Department of Medical Biology at Ondokuz Mayis University, Turkey. She
teaches molecular biology, molecular pathology, gene therapy, cell biology,
signal transduction, cancer biology, and genetics to MSc and PhD students
and is dedicated to supervising postgraduate research, having guided over 15
MSc and PhD graduates.
Prof. Gunes has conducted research at prestigious institutions, including as a
visiting faculty at the Summer Internship Course of the American Center of
Reproductive Medicine and Andrology at Cleveland Clinic in 2014 and 2016.
Her interdisciplinary research focuses on urological malignancies and the
genetic and epigenetic mechanisms underlying common human diseases,
with a special interest in infertility. As a research fellow in Ohio, USA, she
developed lasting collaborations, notably with Prof. Ashok Agarwal.
With an impressive record of over 100 international publications in SCI/SCI-E
journals, 13 book chapters, and an H-index of 21 (WOS, Scopus), Prof. Gunes
has also coordinated more than 50 national grants. She is actively involved in
the Global Andrology Forum as a co-team leader and as a trainer in its virtual
training course, promoting research and education in andrology, and is a
member of several societies, including the Medical Biology and Genetics
Society, Turkish Society of Andrology, Global Andrology Forum, and Medical
Genetics.
Prof. Gunes believes in the value of interdisciplinary scientific dialogue and
networking to drive impactful research. She sees the Global Andrology Forum
as an invaluable platform where experts across disciplines collaborate to
advance science globally. She aims to contribute her expertise to enhance the
quality of scientific research and writing among Global Andrology Forum
members.
