Biography

Dr Fevzi Cebeci is currently working as an Associate Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Sabanci University since September 2010. Before joining Sabanci University, Dr Cebeci worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate of Materials Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering Departments at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under Professor Ortiz and Professor Hammond's supervisions. Dr Cebeci's selected projects at MIT are "Thin Film Electrodes for High-Power and High-Energy Storage Applications", "A New Class of Mechanomutable Heteronanomaterials", and "Multi-Scale Design of Next Generation Polymeric Nanocomposite Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane for Seawater Desalination Using Layer-by-Layer Processing Approach". Dr Cebeci was obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Istanbul Technical University in the field of chemistry. In his M.Sc., he has granted a research assistant position in the Chemistry Department, studied electrochemical dispersion polymerization, and published an M.Sc. thesis entitled "Chemical and Electrochemical Dispersion Polymerization of Methyl Methacrylate in Aqueous Media". After graduation, he started his Ph. D. study in Polymer Science and Technology Program at the Istanbul Technical University. In his Ph. D., Fevzi Cebeci was awarded scholarships from TUBITAK-NATO-A2, Istanbul Technical University and MIT-DMSE. He was a cross-registered visiting student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT for three semesters and has studied polyelectrolyte multilayers, surface chemistry and physics. In his Ph. D., he has studied the organic synthesis of novel monomers, electrochemistry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, conducting polymers, supercapacitors. He has published Ph. D. thesis named "Electropolymerization and Characterization of Synthesized Thiophene and Nonylbithiazole Based Comonomers". Dr Cebeci has given two invited talks, 30+ presentations in national and international meetings and has published five patents. He has published papers in the journals such as Nano Letters, ACS Nano, Langmuir, Electrochemical Acta, J. Electroanalytical Chemistry, and 3500+ citations. Dr Cebeci is an expert on synthesizing 0D, 1D, and 2D materials, nanocomposites, composites, and engineering on surfaces with multifunctional properties.
